Idris Elba has produced and directed his debut movie “Yardie,” which was shot on location in London and Jamaica.

“Yardie,” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, the world cinema dramatic competition, is billed as a dramatic piece that starts with a young Jamaican boy witnessing his brother being murdered. A decade later, he’s the right-hand man to a gang leader, and after a mission goes wrong, he decides on a new mission, to find his brother’s killer. The caster member for the film includes Jamaica’s very own Aml Ameen, Shantol Jackson, Sheldon Shepherd and Everaldo Creary.

Idris talks about how directing “Yardie” gave him a chance to put Jamaica in a different light.
